โ ๏ธ Important Notes
- REGIONAL* vaccines (Rotavirus & PCV) are FREE in Rajasthan, UP, MP, Bihar, HP, Haryana & expanding states. Check your local government hospital.
- Govt gives MR vaccine (Measles + Rubella only). IAP recommends full MMR (adds Mumps protection) โ available at private clinics.
- Pentavalent combo (DTwP + HepB + Hib) is given as a single shot at government hospitals at 6, 10 & 14 weeks โ reduces total number of injections.
- Influenza vaccine is needed every year from 6 months of age. First-time recipients under 9 years need 2 doses, 4 weeks apart.
- Always consult your paediatrician before and after each vaccine visit. Keep a vaccination record card safely.
- If you miss a dose, do not restart โ consult your doctor to resume from where you left off.
Based on IAP (Indian Academy of Pediatrics) ACVIP Schedule 2023โ24 & India UIP Guidelines. Always verify with your child's paediatrician.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which vaccines are free at government hospitals in India?
BCG, Hepatitis B, OPV, DTwP, IPV, Hib, and MMR (as MR) are free under India's Universal Immunization Programme. Rotavirus and PCV are free in select states, marked REGIONAL above.
What's the difference between the government MR vaccine and the private MMR vaccine?
The government's free vaccine covers Measles and Rubella only. The MMR vaccine given at private clinics adds protection against Mumps as well, which is why IAP recommends the full MMR where possible.
What happens if we miss a scheduled vaccine dose?
You don't need to restart the schedule. Consult your pediatrician, who can resume the remaining doses from where you left off.
Does the flu vaccine really need to be given every year?
Yes, the influenza vaccine is recommended annually from 6 months of age onward, since flu strains change each year and immunity from the previous year's shot fades.
