For travel with a baby, essentials include: a spacious trolley bag or diaper bag, portable changing mat, nursing cover, anti-nausea motion sickness patches, a compact first aid kit, and enough diapers/nappies for the journey plus extra. A car seat belt adjuster is essential for road trips.

Most airlines allow babies from 7 days old on flights, though 2-3 months is generally more comfortable for the baby. For road trips, there is no age restriction but ensure proper car safety with an infant car seat and a maternity seat belt adjuster if the mother is still pregnant.

If breastfeeding, a nursing cover provides privacy in public. For formula, carry pre-measured powder in separate containers and use warm water from a thermos. Bring twice the amount of milk you think you'll need — travel always takes longer than planned. Airport security allows baby formula liquids through screening.

For a day outing: 3-4 diapers, wipes, a portable changing mat, one change of clothes (plus extra), feeding essentials, a light muslin swaddle (doubles as blanket and cover), sunscreen for older babies, hand sanitiser, and a small first aid kit with paracetamol drops. Keep it light but prepared.
